‘Elon Musk is dismantling democracy—and he’s using Tesla’s fortune to do it.’
A powerful wave of resistance swept across the globe on Saturday as tens of thousands of people took to the streets in over 200 locations for coordinated “Tesla Takedown” protests, demanding accountability from Elon Musk and his dangerous alliance with the Trump administration.
The international mobilization began at Tesla showrooms in Australia and New Zealand before spreading across Europe, including mass demonstrations in Finland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the UK. In the United States, protests erupted in nearly every state, from the northeast to the deep south, across the Midwest, and along the West Coast.
A Global Stand Against Musk’s Influence
“Elon Musk is dismantling our democracy, and he’s using the fortune he built at Tesla to do it,” organizers declared on Action Network, where an interactive map pinpointed protest sites. “We are taking action at Tesla to stop Musk’s illegal coup.”
With Musk spearheading the dismantling of federal governance as Trump’s chief of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), activists are urging consumers and investors alike to take a stand. Their call to action is clear: Sell your Teslas, dump your stock, and join the picket lines.
A Groundswell of Resistance
Since Musk began his assault on democratic institutions, protesters have consistently targeted Tesla facilities while social media has been flooded with viral posts of former customers ditching their Teslas in protest. The message is resonating worldwide.
At a Tesla dealership protest in West London, activist Louise Cobbett-Witten told The Guardian, “It’s too overwhelming to do nothing. There is real solace in coming together like this. Everyone has to do something. We haven’t got a big strategy besides just standing on the side of the street, holding signs, and screaming.”
In Washington, D.C., Alainn Hanson, who traveled from Minnesota with her mother to join her first Tesla protest, voiced the frustration shared by many: “I’m sick of billionaires trampling over working-class people.”
The Message is Clear: The People Will Not Be Silent
Musk’s unchecked power, his financing of Trump’s extremist agenda, and his direct role in eroding democratic institutions have ignited a global movement determined to stop him. The Tesla Takedown protests are just the beginning.
Will the world allow one billionaire to rewrite the rules of democracy? Or will the people fight back?
